The American Sailing Association (ASA) is the nationwide governing body for sailing schools. The ASA has set national standards for instructors and courses. These standards and the credentials you can earn are internationally recognized. ASA certification will show the sailing world that you have attended a professional sailing school and have successfully mastered the skills necessary to receive your certification. ASA certification will also enable you to receive discounts on charters worldwide.

Does that mean that all ASA affiliates are equal? No. Different accredited universities offer degrees in the same field, but would anyone claim that all universities are the same? Each San Juan Sailing School instructor has been carefully screened and selected for his or her sailing ability, communication skills and personality. You will find them all to be patient, competent guides who will help you master new skills.

As one of the Northwest’s oldest sailing schools, San Juan Sailing School has perfected techniques for teaching students how to sail safely in a fun and comfortable atmosphere. Most importantly, however, is the confidence you’ll feel the first time you take the helm of a sailboat after graduating from our school.
